VEEMS – Trim Optimization
VEEMS trim optimization module is a real time decision support tool for ship crew to maintain and monitor optimum trim and thereby reducing fuel consumption.
A minimum savings of 2 – 3% which is more for certain ship types like container carriers.
What makes it different and unique?
The unique feature of the program is in its ability to demonstrate the actual savings after any adjustment is carried out to the user. In the following case study it can be seen after departure the vessel started optimizing trim around 0000 hours on 3rd March. Average fuel consumption till that time was around 41MT/day. Once the condition stabilized while all other factors like wind, current remained almost same, the average fuel consumption dropped to 36MT/day. That is the simplicity and transparency level the system can offer.There is no complicated calculation or algorithm involved but the actual data from the fuel flowmeters and other relevant sensors are shown in an easy to read format.
